Steps to Donating
BEFORE THE DONATION PROCESS BEGINS
At your first donation, we will conduct a few simple tests to make sure you are eligible to donate. These include:
- Blood Pressure
- Pulse
- Temperature
- Weight
As part of the new donor process, we will provide you with a physical exam. We'll listen to your heart and lungs, check your reflexes, and look at your eyes, ears, nose and throat.
Your donated plasma will be tested to make sure that it is safe for use in the manufacture of our life-enhancing products.
All of your information is kept confidential and will not be shared with anyone without your permission.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DONATE
Donating plasma is a process much like giving blood and takes between 1 to 2 hours. The amount of plasma you can give is based on your weight. The process to donate plasma is simple:
- We find a good vein in your arm. The area is cleaned and prepared for the donation process. All the supplies we use are sterile and disposable. Everything is used only once.
- You will then be connected to a high-tech machine that collects the plasma and returns the other parts of your blood to you.
- You may feel a brief "sting" from the needle.
- As you donate, you can read, watch a video, chat with other donors or just take a break from your day.
Your body will replenish the plasma within 48 hours. Plasma donations can occur no more than twice in a 7-day period and there must be at least 48 hours between donations.
